After a long time, my dream of writing a Telugu blog is finally done. I was in a  dilemma to start it bcoz of my hectic schedule(:P). But starting something that you like the most makes the difficulties so small that you really don't care about them. So from this time, I am writing here as well as in my Telugu blog.

151...Experienced Certainty

Posted by Sunil Ramavarapu in

Once up on a time, there was a placement drive in a reputed private university in the beautiful city of Vizag. The placement drive was conducted by a very well known and established company that makes you experience Certainty. They were very certain in what they want from this college. They did things as per their plan and recruited 151 students. These 151 students were on Cloud 99 as they got into a world class company. Adding to it, they were overjoyed to the thought that they are going to experience certainty, ever experienced by them, in the near future.

Days passed on and the students in the campus slowly started to forget that 151 were recruited into Certainty. Then came a mail from the Certainty congratulating them and sending them their first ever offer letter. They were once again celebrations in the campus and every one talked about it. Days passed on and again there was dead silence from Certainty. On the other side, people started to get into What’s on your mind, Applying Thought, Powered by Intellectuals, High performances delivered, Technology that touches lives and the like. And the 151 were completely forgotten who were once cherished. They rarely showed up anything. But, deep in heart, they were certain that there is something coming for them.

Yes, indeed it came true one day. They got Background Verification Forms and once again 151 were in limelight. Campus started to talk about the latest news and speculations started to spread like fire. But this time too, it did not last long and was flushed with the entry of Rescission, which was even talked by the guards at the campus gate. No more did the campus was visited by companies nor did the mails or news from Certainty. Students started to get busy with the exams and once again no one talked about anything.

Then came the For the people* into limelight with its notifications in newspapers every now and then. Students started to run to fill in the applications and post them as soon as possible. And to everyone surprise the 151 and the students who were into Thought, Mind, Intellectual and the like also applied to For the people. The campus was awe struck by the step they took. Everyone talked about everyone.

And to the worse, 151 were sent no info from Certainty, but the rest who got into Thoughts, Mind and the like started to get goodies, offer letters, on campus sessions and the like. 151 were felt alone in their very own campus. Confusion and fear surrounded them. No one talked about Certainty nor did Certainty talked with 151. Finally, the day has come when 151 successfully completed the studies and were out into the real world. They were very excited and interested to experience the World of Certainty.

But something was written for them. Months passed on but Certainty did not talk with them. They were frightened and upon contacting those who got into Certainty, 151 came to a conclusion that everyone was same like this. Everyone has the same feelings.

On one day this silence was broken. Certainty started to appear in TV’s giving interviews with business experts and everyone was on their feet. The silence was broken in such a way that speculations were on all time high, like riding on a bull, and spreading like forest fires.

And on one fine morning, magic happened in everyone’s inboxes. They got a mail from Certainty after ages and everyone was excited about the intake, when and where. Celebrations every where. The news of first batch joining in coming 2 weeks added to these celebrations. But these did not last long.

As a matter of fact this also created speculations to the maximum possible range. Most of the people were unaware of their joining dates and there was chaos everywhere. Certainty uploaded a revised offer letter reducing 6000 from monthly pay during training. But 151 were keeping their fingers crossed as the very own news of intake of first batch made this pay news so small that no one really cared about it. They were asked to download fro the Certainty site.

Here comes the Certainty certainness. It does not open and incase if it opens it takes a long time. In case if all is going well, there are problems downloading the offer letter. Chaos and confusion everywhere.

Finally, Certainty has put up “System overloaded. Try later”. At least certain they were to some extent.

Let’s see how much certain it will be in the coming months. And after passing these many months, I as one of the 151 still question myself, “Are they really certain on what they are up to?”

P.S. But at the least, I hope that they don’t put up “Certainty overloaded. Try later”. What I can do is Keep my fingers crossed and pray to God to give Certainty to my life. (The feelings of 151 mentioned here reflects how most of the 151 felt, and  I did not feel like this! Infact I felt nothing.)

A period of "Nothing"

Posted by Sunil Ramavarapu in ,

Well, I have been travelling continuously for the past one month with no time to ping here. You might ask me “What are you doing? Are you that busy?”

The answer is simple and I am doing nothing. Yup! Completely nothing.

There’s nothing left in my wallet to spend, nothing more to shop after looting Fashion Street, nothing more to read from the books I brought in CST, nothing to hear after long chit chats with my sis, nothing left to travel after 5 days of complete exhaustive roaming on the busy streets of Mumbai, nothing seems to be fun left after visiting Essel World, nothing seems to be spiritual after visiting Siddhi Vinayak, nothing seems to be taller after staying for 15 days on the 11th floor of 15 yr old building, nothing left to think that I knew all after visiting IIT Mumbai, nothing left to make me believe that I am brave after observing Mumbaikars carry their routine, nothing left for me to sit in the locals at 11:30 pm while returning to home, nothing left in me after getting ill for 3 days, nothing more left to know about Swine Flu and absolutely nothing I am going to get out of these things.

But there’s something I learnt, “there’s always something that you can learn from this nothing”. I learnt how to bargain and to spend money. I learnt that book reading gives me ultimate enjoyment. I learnt how to cross the busy roads with overloaded shopping bags all over me. I learnt how to get along in a tourist places without any means of extra pay (In tourist spot, people usually get cheated by the auto-walas and cab drivers). I learnt how to hold my breath to the most exciting rides of Essel World. I learnt how to get on to the board of overcrowded local trains of Mumbai. I learnt why people are mad about IIT, after visiting it. I learnt to be brave after watching Mumbaikars (They have experienced 1993 blasts, local train bomb blasts, floods, 26/11 terrorists attacks and the recent Swine flu attack. I bet you sure that you can not even find a bit of terror in them. They stand and face together in these situations. I am proud to be a temporary Mumbaikar. Of course, only 15 days :P). I learnt that life is filled with emotions, excitement, sentiment, friendship, shopping, playing, crying, crossing the hurdles that come in your way (it’s as simple as crossing a street in Mumbai), observing others, understanding yourself, enjoying each and every second of the way you live the life.

Finally, I understood that nothing is something that makes you learn that there is always something that you can learn from this nothing.

P.S. Well, you might be in a confused state after reading this. But read it again, I won’t assure that you can understand, but I assure you will definitely get fixed that you are confused on what I was trying to say. The fact is that I was saying nothing.

Celebrating 10 years of KARGIL

Posted by Sunil Ramavarapu in

How many of us really remember the significance of today? How many of us knew about what happened to our country 10 years ago??

Very few, 10 in 100 may be a high estimation.

The peaceful Kashmir valley, the abode of Himalayas, was terrified by the attack of militants. This was quite normal for our soldiers as they fight against them, almost every day. But they were unaware of the fact that this would turn out to be a great war with Pakistan. Pakistan supported these militants under currently and it sent its troops to the Kargil and Dras sectors to fight against our soldiers.

What can I do about this? I have an important meeting to attend. The soldiers are there to care forthe country. I am very busy with my works and appointments. This is the common attitude among most of us. This would normally be the perspective of a common man living in the safe and comfortable zones of India during the Kargil Days, when India was at war. But this was not the condition in Kashmir!

Each day was counted. Any thing might happen at any point of time. Any thing that they can do is to pray God to keep them safe and make our soldiers fight bravely against the Pak forces. This was what a common man in Kashmir was thinking in those days.

Where as, sacrificing their lives for the sake of our country was the only motto of our brave Indian soldiers. No matter how many bullets were shot, how many missiles were fired at them, yet they stand for us. They stay there and fight for us. The life of a soldier in Kashmir was not like a walk on ramp; rather it was like walking on a rope over Niagara Falls. And if the country is at war, the situation becomes even more critical.

Their life of a soldier during wartime would be to stand bravely against lots of riffles aimed at them, devastating missiles targeting them. They carry out numerous adventures to claim the hills one by one and making the militants & Pak forces go back to their homes and keep their ass shut. On claiming each mountain, they need to set up base camps, install communication equipment to report the higher authorities about their status. They take orders from higher officials and carry on tasks involve high risk factor. More over the tension builds up whenever a higher official comes to visit the camps as there is a possibility of an attack from the enemy. They travel continuously for hundred and sometimes thousands of kilometers in the Himalayan mountain ranges to back up the soldiers fighting ferociously in the crucial areas. They are not only responsible for defending our land but also the brothers and sisters of country, the people who are living in those areas of war. They need to protect the civilians and the media personnel. Here, the job done by the media must be appreciated. They provide us the facts and show us what was actually happening there. The soldiers were not done with this. Sometimes, they don’t sleep continuously for hours. They do night outs, constantly undertaking surveillance of the base camps. They need to live far away from their family for months where as we happily go out to shopping in malls, movies and to food courts, spending lavishly and enjoying happily. Did you ever think of what might be the situation of a soldier fighting from the base camps? Can you imagine under what kind of pressure they carry out their operations. They stand bravely in the fields rocked by missiles every now and then. Can you imagine what trouble they were facing there to keep us safe and sound? And here, we grumble and make non-sense statements on India if we are not able to travel in a crowded RTC bus. Don’t we do these many times? Yes, you and I have done that many times. But did we ever think that is this more difficult than the life of a soldier at war.

We watch Hollywood movies and keep on talking about the action sequences and fights by the hero. But do we really recognize what our real heroes have done for us deep in the mountains. No, we don’t. We recognize the hype the Hollywood producers create about the US army in the movies. But we don’t recognize our Indian Army in that manner. Rather, we pass out despondent comments about our own pride. When are we going to change? Is this what we give to our country? We are the citizens of tomorrow and we have every right to safeguard and defend our country in all possible ways. Don’t ever give out a low on our National Pride’s.

One thing I would like to mention in the end is “There is no other country in World like India. We are a land of unity in broadest possible diversity. Yes, we do have different opinions on different things, yet we stand together for our country.

Jai Ho Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy….

We always love you and remember you in our hearts…

Yours Indian

P S: This post is for all those people, who have a low opinion about our Indian Army, to make them understand how the life of a soldier was during Kargil war days. The post is not intended to hurt anyone in any means. It’s just a tribute of my feelings to the great soldiers of our Nation.
