Celebrating 10 years of KARGIL

Posted by Sunil Ramavarapu in

How many of us really remember the significance of today? How many of us knew about what happened to our country 10 years ago??

Very few, 10 in 100 may be a high estimation.

The peaceful Kashmir valley, the abode of Himalayas, was terrified by the attack of militants. This was quite normal for our soldiers as they fight against them, almost every day. But they were unaware of the fact that this would turn out to be a great war with Pakistan. Pakistan supported these militants under currently and it sent its troops to the Kargil and Dras sectors to fight against our soldiers.

What can I do about this? I have an important meeting to attend. The soldiers are there to care forthe country. I am very busy with my works and appointments. This is the common attitude among most of us. This would normally be the perspective of a common man living in the safe and comfortable zones of India during the Kargil Days, when India was at war. But this was not the condition in Kashmir!

Each day was counted. Any thing might happen at any point of time. Any thing that they can do is to pray God to keep them safe and make our soldiers fight bravely against the Pak forces. This was what a common man in Kashmir was thinking in those days.

Where as, sacrificing their lives for the sake of our country was the only motto of our brave Indian soldiers. No matter how many bullets were shot, how many missiles were fired at them, yet they stand for us. They stay there and fight for us. The life of a soldier in Kashmir was not like a walk on ramp; rather it was like walking on a rope over Niagara Falls. And if the country is at war, the situation becomes even more critical.

Their life of a soldier during wartime would be to stand bravely against lots of riffles aimed at them, devastating missiles targeting them. They carry out numerous adventures to claim the hills one by one and making the militants & Pak forces go back to their homes and keep their ass shut. On claiming each mountain, they need to set up base camps, install communication equipment to report the higher authorities about their status. They take orders from higher officials and carry on tasks involve high risk factor. More over the tension builds up whenever a higher official comes to visit the camps as there is a possibility of an attack from the enemy. They travel continuously for hundred and sometimes thousands of kilometers in the Himalayan mountain ranges to back up the soldiers fighting ferociously in the crucial areas. They are not only responsible for defending our land but also the brothers and sisters of country, the people who are living in those areas of war. They need to protect the civilians and the media personnel. Here, the job done by the media must be appreciated. They provide us the facts and show us what was actually happening there. The soldiers were not done with this. Sometimes, they don’t sleep continuously for hours. They do night outs, constantly undertaking surveillance of the base camps. They need to live far away from their family for months where as we happily go out to shopping in malls, movies and to food courts, spending lavishly and enjoying happily. Did you ever think of what might be the situation of a soldier fighting from the base camps? Can you imagine under what kind of pressure they carry out their operations. They stand bravely in the fields rocked by missiles every now and then. Can you imagine what trouble they were facing there to keep us safe and sound? And here, we grumble and make non-sense statements on India if we are not able to travel in a crowded RTC bus. Don’t we do these many times? Yes, you and I have done that many times. But did we ever think that is this more difficult than the life of a soldier at war.

We watch Hollywood movies and keep on talking about the action sequences and fights by the hero. But do we really recognize what our real heroes have done for us deep in the mountains. No, we don’t. We recognize the hype the Hollywood producers create about the US army in the movies. But we don’t recognize our Indian Army in that manner. Rather, we pass out despondent comments about our own pride. When are we going to change? Is this what we give to our country? We are the citizens of tomorrow and we have every right to safeguard and defend our country in all possible ways. Don’t ever give out a low on our National Pride’s.

One thing I would like to mention in the end is “There is no other country in World like India. We are a land of unity in broadest possible diversity. Yes, we do have different opinions on different things, yet we stand together for our country.

Jai Ho Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy….

We always love you and remember you in our hearts…

Yours Indian

P S: This post is for all those people, who have a low opinion about our Indian Army, to make them understand how the life of a soldier was during Kargil war days. The post is not intended to hurt anyone in any means. It’s just a tribute of my feelings to the great soldiers of our Nation.

Thank You!

Moulali HB-Koti-Charminar-IMAX-Lumnbini-Moulali HB(Chalo JTO! #4)

I woke up and looked at my watch to see it strike 7.00. “Need to brush right now. It’s getting late”, I thought and rushed into bathroom to fresh up as well as chalk out a plan for today (People normally say they get a lot of ideas in the bathroom…Of course I didn’t get any :P).

At 9.04 AM, the MMTS to Secunderabad station rushed into platform no.1. I somehow managed to hang on myself on the door step of the train. It’s been really amazing to travel like that. After traveling for a while, I moved into the compartment with great difficulty. These MMTS are completely crowded these days especially during the morning rush hours. But they sucked me like anything during the 45 minutes journey to my destination point, Secunderabad.

At 11.33 AM, Today the sun was up in the sky with its scorching heat. The clouds are hardly visible to me from the 5th floor of my cousin’s apartment. I slowly walked to the bus-stand. I waited there for 45 minutes to catch a bus to Koti. In this mean time, Satya (stupid fellow) is threatening me that he will not be able to come to Koti. I somehow convinced him to come. I never felt like heaven on earth ever in my life, except the moment I saw the bus to Koti. “Oh my God! This Hyderabad really is sucking me”, I thought while getting into the bus.

At 12.45 AM, Koti Andhra Bank Junction. This stupid was waiting for me since 20 min but was giving show-off as if he was waiting for ages. Then we both struggled to go to Charminar and I mean it by saying “struggled”.

The Charminar was more than 400 years old. It stands in the centre of the old city with a splendid and majestic look. We took the ticket to go on top of it. It was really life remembering experience to go there. At least, one must go there once in their life-time. I felt a bit proud for being born in the same state where the Charminar stands. From Charminar one can get a good look of Mecca Masjid, the famous pilgrimage for Muslims. Of course, it became famous for the recent bomb blasts by LeT assholes of Pakistan, which killed tens of people during Namaz. This place was superb and I completely enjoyed the spiritual feel I got here. We came out of the Masjid and went to a café just opposite to Charminar. We ate samosa and a Charminar special item (forgot its name).

At 3.45 PM, in Ravindra Bharthi public toilets. I was washing my face and getting refreshed. We went to IMAX from there. We have been there yesterday also but somehow I felt like a brand new place. We roamed there for a while and stopped at the poster of Mystic India. This poster really attracted me like a magnet and asked Satya whether he would like to watch this movie in IMAX screen. At first, he resisted and of course he admitted as if he was not willing, but in the inside he also wanted to come. But as there is lot of time for the show to begin, we thought of going to Lumbini Park.

At 6.00 PM, beside Buddha in the middle of Hussain Sagar. Satya and I took out a few pics with my mobile N6233. A couple also accompanied us with a lot of people to Buddha. The gal was amazing and as usual the boy was stupid to suit her. They asked to take their pic. This gal looked like an angel in the lights that were meant for Buddha to visible for the people on the bank. Besides this, the boat travel was good.

But the day ended with out going to the movie scheduled to screen at 7.30 PM as we were late to come out of Lumbini Park. But I sure had plans for the last day in Hyderabad and I thought I won’t leave Hyderabad without watching a movie in IMAX.

P.S: The movie in IMAX the next day was one of the shocking situations in my life at theatre.

Orey!

Recently, Siddharth film Oy! was released in theaters. The movie was reported to acheive good openings in cites and towns. At last the people were finally coming to theatres after a long time to watch a tragedy. The heroine was earlier a childhood artist. The crew did not reveal her identity until 3 days before the movie was released that created hype for Oy! However, this did not attract me to write the post here. The one thing that attracted me was the caption of the movie.

His FIRST LOVE called himm…

Oye!

I liked the way they have put the title and the caption. It is a familiar sound in Telugu language. People use it too often and this made the movie reach in to the target audience with ease. But this made me remember of my childhood days.

As far as I remember, God gave my first enemy at the age of 6 years, whwn I was in my first class. His name is Sarath. He is a tall, lean and black coloured (pitch black) kid. He was rebel in our class at those days. We used to get frightened of him. I never talked with him because of this reason. But one day, he had a quarrel with me (I don’t remember the reason). But what I remember was Sarath calling me Orey! I didn’t listen to that before and it sounded me sweet. But that fellow is like demon to me in those days and I got frightened as he was calling me like that.

For the first time in my life, a person called me Orey! and that too he was my first enemy. What a coincidence!

I don’t know whereabouts Sarath after I left that school. Whenever I see the movie poster, I remember this sweet memory of mine. How sweet is life. Always celebrate it with joy even if you are in sorrow…

So I made my own caption attached to my pic similar to the movie poster above.

his FIRST ENEMY called himm…

Orey!

P.S: Oye! and Orey! are the sounds that are often used in Telugu language. Oye literally means referring to a person to draw attention. Orey literally means calling or referring to a person in anger(friendly of course).

JTO Exam Day (Cahlo JTO! #3)

Posted by Sunil Ramavarapu in

JTO (Just Timepass Overloaded)

The long awaited day, June 23rd has come. The day I wrote (attempted) JTO exam. My centre was in Kukatpally. Pandu, Bokka, Kalyan, Jaggu, Ghajini, Niru, Galli, Venu Madhavi , Srujana were my friends who also got the same centre. The exam was damn easy for all; however it was damn difficult to me. After coming out we made many plans whether to go to Imax or Charminar. Some said Hyd Central, Golconda and one said “Let’s go home”.

Ghajini, Bokka, Pandu and I went to IMAX where Rev and Pilanco joined us. From there we rushed in an auto to Snow world. Satya joined here. It was really amazing place. It was really magnificent to create the atmosphere of a cold place, snowfall, snow man and ice ski-ing. It’s really cold out there. So we were given coats, shoes, hand cuffs and socks to wear in there. I got a chance to try the ice-ski-ing. We enjoyed a lot there. We have been there for about an hour. However time passed on very fast as if we were there for a few minutes. We also visited the Rain forest and the dead man’s home above the snow world.

It was around 6.00 pm we came out from this snow world. After this, Satya and I took an auto. I was going to visit Swathi. Satya got down at his stop and I went to her home. She came to pick me at Ravindra Nagar Masjid. It was near her home.

Swathi is a good girl. She was my batch mate for all the labs during engineering and co-anchor for the dept events. Above all, she was also the talk of the class for her beauty. Yup! She had many followers. However I felt that she did not care about this fan following.

Her house, may be I must mention it as a beautiful bungalow. And she has a dog which she refers to as Snooky. Snooky is a german sheperd type. My God! She is almost about my height if it stands on her two legs.

We had a chit-chat on different things like our labs experiences, the dept events, Saraswathi Madam, her sis and her dog, our future plans and of course about Ramkanth. We talked almost for about one and half hours or so. Her grandpa was really interesting person to talk to. He is a nice fellow. Her mom is also always smiling, but her father is fully serious (rarely did I see him smile once in about 15 minutes he was with us). Finally I started from her home at about 9.00pm only to find myself in trouble!!!

The direct bus left just before I reached the bus stop. I had to wait for about an hour to get the bus. Finally I reached to station and took another bus to JNTU and an auto to reach home. Whatever might be the shit with Hyd buses, you can’t resist getting into them, especially at times when you really need them.

It was really a good experience. Snow world, Swathi’s home, long bus travels were a life time sweet memories to remember. But I really understood how much I loved Vizag. In Vizag, one can go anywhere on anything at anytime with in half an hour. The Hyd in this case is damn idiotic city. I love U, Vizag!!!!
